But more of that when you take our walk. We are going to walk down the streets of Chandni Chowk, which is a bustling part of Old Delhi. And our walk will focus on food, food – and more food.

3. Qutub Minar & Mehrauli Walk

Starting Point of the tour - Entrance Gate

End Point of the tour - Kalka Dass Marg

Duration of the tour  - 1 hour 20 min

Distance Covered -3 km

Description of tour

The Mehrauli area of southern Delhi marks one of the oldest settlements in this region and the majestic Qutub Minar is its star attraction. This area is studded with ruins and is the site of a series of events that has shaped Delhi. It was once the thriving capital of the Rajput Tomar and Chauhan dynasties and later the centre of the power of India’s first Islamic rulers. As power shifted to other parts of Delhi and Agra, Mehrauli was neglected and its fabulous buildings crumbled into ruins. The later Mughals and British did tend to some of the more magnificent ones like the Qutub Minar. Around the Qutub Minar complex, a UNESCO World heritage Site, Mehrauli village’s congested lanes are dotted with ruins of tombs, baolis, a famous temple and the dargah of a revered Sufi saint. The landscape of Mehrauli has changed over time but to this day it retains a distinct whiff of the past. Our walk through the Qutub Minar Complex and Mehrauli village brings you a slice of Delhi’s varied past and its syncretic culture.
